On December 23rd, EMC Released a new Enginuity code for VMAX arrays. The code level is 5876.272.177. You can find the release notes here:
One of the major new enhancements in the new code is the SRDF support with VMAX 3. So now a VMAX array running code 5876.272.177 can have SRDF pairs with VMAX 3 running HYPERMAX OS Q4 releases 5977.498.472 and 5977.497.471.
There are some limitations mentioned in the release notes that I highly recommend you to consider before creating the pairs:
BE aware of the last one as this may cause data loss if you are using Compression on VP pools in your VMAX V2. Enabling Compression on VP Pool can highly impact performance. VP Compression is totally supported however, It should only be used in specific situations.
The code is not yet a target code so upgrade is not necessary if you are not making use of the SRDF Compatibility feature.
There are some other Fixes mentioned there. You may consider the upgrade if these fixes are right to your environment.
